Kings of War is…

“And thus did the Ronnie proclaim “on the 6th month of the third year presented unto you shall be the rulebook of all things Kings of War”. And the people did cheer in their exhuburance!” – Darsc80 on Youtube.

Ronnie says it all – the new Kings of War is coming in June bringing with it:

A fantasy battle game written for both the Casual and Competitive Player.
With an innovative turn sequence, a built-in tournament pack and the option to play timed games, Kings of War is a fast and simple game that naturally lends itself to competitive events. It’s such a good fit, even our own tournament organizers have been able to play whilst running the event!

The Kings of War world has been developing behind-the-scenes for months and the new Rulebook finally lays it to bear. With a detailed map of the new world and the history of the land and its races, this rich fantasy realm is one of war and bloodshed where kingdoms clash in epic battles.

I can’t wait! I will definitely be getting one of these. My only regret is that it comes out about 2 weeks after our annual Nerdvana mini-gaming fest.

  4. Jonathan Faulkes says

    20 days to go Matt.

Will be picking this up immediatly on release. Hope there are signed copies for those of us who are fanatical about it. :)

In addition, very nice cover. The hosts of Mhenkhara shall walk across the sands and into your lands, and the world will tremble.

That’s going to be beautiful. It’s going to be freaking beautiful. I’m gonna get a map of Mantica. I keep getting lost in Mantica so I really need a map because I’m lost.

    Slurp slurp!!!
    Waaaaaaaaaaaaaar ooops!

  9. Donnie says

What’s innovative about the turn sequence?

  10. Darsc Zacal says

Signed copies would be most desirable. : )

I’m keyed up for the book but i’m also keyed up for the no doubt insane deals Mantic will put out in conjunction with it’s release!

To be honest I am a bit concerned about this. One of the things I liked best about Kings of War and Warpath was the simplicity of the rules that could be explained in just a few pages. A 144 page rulebook suggests either the rules have become a lot more complex or there is an awful lot of padding.

Also given that a certain other miniature company charges in excess of £40 for its rules, I liked the fact that Kings of War was effectively free to download. A big expensive rulebook is not, in my opinion, a step in the right direction.

Hey Hum_Con – the core rules will remain free to download, more details on how still to come!

Elementals. Human. Angels. Daemons. I like this all very much.

The cover art looks good too. :)

  14. Darren says

So army lists are printed in the hardback, or only on the website? Or army list pamphlet?

Very excited to see a hardback. A concise and well-edited version of the rules will be a treat, and expanded rules too… that’s a lot of value in one book.

  15. David says

Are the angels gonna be a seprarate army or just a unit in the human list???

  16. Bill says

Any chance there will be pre-orders for this like the small rule booklet?

  17. HaWior says

Great to hear human race is coming and demons and angels. :D

But I’m a little worried about Ronnie. He looks so beaten and sickly. Take a longer break Ronnie.

  18. JP says

I’ve written a small piece about what makes Kings Of War stand out from the rest of the crowd, should anyone be interested.
