The Mantic Journal: Mhorgoth’s Revenge

Of the speaking races, the insane necromancer Mhorgoth hates the Elves above all others. They raised and taught him, comforted him when his curse struck down those he loved. And then they turned on him, condemning him to be burnt alive in the Eternal Flame. Scarred, in constant agony because of their actions, Mhorgoth would drag every Elf down and make them suffer so horribly they will beg to join his kingdom of the dead.

Journal cover 6.5.10

Mhorgoth’s mighty army of skeleton warriors marches from the south, out of the desert eating the lands of the Southern Kindreds, heading unerringly to the ruined city of Borath Lei.

Borath Lei is sacred to the Elves. In ages gone, the city was cast down. Its shattered walls stand in the wastes, faint traces of Elven magic holding the ever-hungry desert at bay, an oasis of sorts. Under the soft grasses before its ruined gates lie the bones of ten thousand Elven warriors, intermingled with those who slew them. Mhorgoth intends to raise these dead, creating a horde so vast surely all the Southern Elven Kindreds will be destroyed.

Corpse-ghouls pour from sand-choked catacombs to join his banner. High above, the dread vampire Lord Malak of Dol Eragos flies upon his Hellsteed, his alliance with Mhorgoth born of some unspeakable pact.

The Elves are on the move, determined to prevent this atrocity. Malatheer, Castellan of Aloss, has ridden to the Twilight Glades in the north to beg aid of the Mage-Queen while his twin sister Malatheen heads toward Borath Lei. Tydarion, the greatest of all Dragonlords, rides the wind to the south, while the High Marshall treads the Dark Path through the spirit world, hoping to reach Borath Lei before Mhorgoth can perform his sorcery.
Armies march. The stage is set for Mhorgoth’s Revenge…

The Mantic Journal 1: Mhorgoth’s Revenge will be available from Mantic Games in May and, if you just simply cannot wait to see what’s in it – here’s a link to a downloadable PDF – just a sneak peek at a few of the pages.

  1. Mantic Blog – The Mantic Journal: Mhorgoth’s Revenge

  2. Am I right in thinking that the whole document will be available for free download? I got that impression from the link to the sample.

“Mantic Journal Issue 1: Mhorgoth’s Revenge is available in May as an individual publication, free download or as part of an annual subscription which includes a free Mhorgoth the Faceless miniature.”

  3. It would certainly appear so from the quote.
I don’t know whether that means each subsequent issue will be made available as a free download or just the first?
    I really like the blurb.
I’m looking forward to this 🙂

  4. It makes sense to get more people to read it and see that it is worth it. I’ve subscribed anyway, its looking great!

  5. I see that the subscription package excludes mhorgoths senic base. why is that?

  6. @ Max It isn’t included?
It’s pictured with on the home page. Where did you hear that?

  7. Ah I now see it says “exclude base”
    That is a shame.

  8. Shoot. Shoot. Shoot. I had not noticed the base was excluded.
I imagine it may be to pacify those who had previously redeemed their Mantic Rewards points for the Mhorgoth mini, in that the figure that they have can still in some way be considered an exclusive. I know I would have been a bit peeved if I had turned in my hard earned 50 points and a few days or weeks later others were able to pic up the exact same figure for as a free gift with sub. I was only a few days away from that happening to myself.

Now I’m just a bit peeved that I’m not getting the base. Shoot!

    And when I say shoot… I’m really meaning ****!

    ; > )

So Mantic… Now that I’m signed up for the Journal Subscription, and I’m
sure my Mhorgoth mini will soon be on his way to me, how many Mantic
Points do I need to send in and redeem for Mhorgoth’s base?

    • ok, I know you guys, and you all say nice things (and everyone is suseptible to a bit of flattery!), so how about the firsat 100 subscriptions get the base?

that shouls cover all you who have already ordered – and any best friends you tell in the next 3 or 4 days! We are up to about 40 already, so get word out there – the first 100 subs get the figure AND the base.

your friendly, listening Toy soldier company!

I’ve ordered a copy yesterday and thinking about wether Mantic would do a subscription…..
A mere 24 hours later and my dream came true :-p
I’ll take that sub later but can someone please provide me with a reason that’ll be good enough for my missus to start an undead army?
She’ll dig the subscription, she’ll dig the mini of Morgoth but she just refuses the good old-“Oh look dear, now since I’ve got a Necromancer for free with the mag, can I order some skellies?”- excuse, i’m getting desperate here 😀
Those 2 Elf deals that I’ve bought seems to be her limit alltough she loves that messengerbag, I’ve actually had to pry it from her grasping fingers, where I see space for models and dace, she sees room for lipgloss and a purse 😀

  10. Ask her to put the lipgloss in the purse, therefor saving space. Failing that buy her more lipgloss and purses to sweeten her up. When she has more purses than she knows what to do with, start using them for your own gain by storing undead in them. When she finds skeletons in her purses you just say, “You must not have used that in a while, perhaps you have too many purses?”
    Worth a try…

  11. Ask your wife if she’d like a second purse. The fact that it’ll come packed full of skellies is purely coincidental. ; )

  12. I love you 🙂 *Big Cheesey Grin*

  13. Nicely done Mantic. Very good idea on the compromise offer.

    Thank you!

And to anybody still on the fence considering this… Just do it at sub up! It’s a VERY nice figure and base to get as a bonus gift.

  14. Ahhh Mantic. You just have to keep topping your offers don’t you. Awesome!

  15. So when is this shipping anyway? I kinda got the impression it would be pretty soon…
